چکیده

The cosmic-ray proton and helium spectra from 0.2 GeV nucleon~1 to about 200 GeV nucleon~1 have been measured with the balloon-borne experiment Isotope Matter-Antimatter Experiment (IMAX) launched from Lynn Lake, Manitoba, Canada, in 1992. IMAX was designed to search for antiprotons and light isotopes using a superconducting magnet spectrometer together with scintillators, a time-ofÑight system, and Cherenkov detectors. Using redundant detectors, an extensive examination of the instrument efficiency was carried out. We present here the absolute spectra of protons and helium corrected to the top of the atmosphere and to interstellar space. If demodulated with a solar modulation parameter of /\ 750 MV, the measured interstellar spectra between 20 and 200 GV can be represented by a power law in rigidity, with (1.42^ 0.21)] 104R~2.71B0.04 (m2 GV s sr)~1 for protons and (3.15^ 1.03)] 103R~2.79B0.08 (m2 GV s sr)~1 for helium. THE COSMIC - RAY 3 He / 4 He RATIO FROM 200 MeV PER NUCLEON ~ 1 TO 3 . 7 GeV PER NUCLEON

The abundances of cosmic-ray helium isotopes between 0.2 and 3.7 GeV nucleon~1 were measured by the Isotope Matter Antimatter Experiment (IMAX) during a Ñight from Lynn Lake, Manitoba, Canada on 1992 July 16È17. The IMAX balloon-borne magnetic spectrometer realized a direct measurement of the charge, the velocity, and the rigidity of cosmic rays using plastic scintillators, a high-resolution ti...

Geomagnetic Field Eect over Azimuth Anisotropy of Cosmic Rays via Study of Primary Particles

Geomagnetic field is a one of the candidates for creation of anisotropy in azimuth distribution of extensive air showers over the entered cosmic rays to the atmosphere. Here we present the question: Is there any azimuth anisotropy flux in the upper level of the atmosphere due to the geomagnetic field over the entered cosmic-rays? The obtained answer is: yes. This investigation showed an agreeme...

Evaluation of the dose and flux of secondary particles in the lung tissue in breast proton therapy using the Monte Carlo simulation code

Unlike proton therapy, conventional radiation therapy directs X-rays not only at the tumor but also unavoidably at nearby healthy tissue. Protons deliver radiation to tumor tissue while the healthy structures will be spared during proton therapy. When protons travel through matter, secondary particles like neutrons and photons are produced. It is believed that the secondary dose can lead to sec...

Dose distribution of protons and flux of secondary particles in breast proton therapy.

Introduction: Proton therapy is newer therapeutic method for early stage breast cancer. Proton beams release most of their energy in the Bragg peak and then will be a rapid decline in their end. When protons interact with matter, produce secondary particles like neutrons and gammas, and these unwanted radiation has no beneficial effect and also is believed to increase the risk ...

Direct excitations of He+ and Li++ ions by collisions with protons or antiprotons

The impact parameter formalism of the single-center close-coupling, first-, and second-order Born approximations have been applied to investigate direct excitations of Helium He+(2s) and Lithium Li++(2s) ions by colliding with protons or antiprotons. The total 3s, 3p, and 3d scaled excitation cross sections are calculated in the scaled impact energy region (2 to 1000 keV). The present work aims...
